I've installed the Virtualbox & Ubuntu Linux in it, but I can't for the life of me get the rom kitchen to install, I can't get the terminal to open up, I don't know what I'm doing wrong can somebody help me with this install

Ok I'll try that, when it says open applications, accessories, terminal... I do this & all that happens is a window opens & wants me to create the application to start ? How can I enter the sudo code if I can't get to the terminal, it's probably me but it doesn't work like the guide says for me

you helped out in intercept on sdx and on sdx in the triumph so plus on here.:):)
Hi folks im new to this forum wazz uuuuup :):):);););)

Not much...

@Jaay Dogg You could always install WUBI and dual boot. It's easier than messing with a virtual box.
ok wubi helps with dual booting ill have to check that out been kinda stumped but havent tried that. but i havent been really working at it but like a evening a month. ive been trying to dual boot from a usb drive that hasnt worked yet. but i havent really worked on it much.

It's not the Virtualbox, I think it's Ubuntu I'm Linux ******ed, i've always used Windows until Android now I'm learning all over again, so forgive me if I'm asking stupid questions, I'll figure it out just gonna need help. What's this dual boot program you speak of, is it Linux ?

WUBI is windows ubuntu installer. Basically it installs on your hdd so you can dual boot without having to partition and such. I don't know much about linux either I have only used windows (well and a bit of osx). I would try WUBI though and see if the terminal opens.

@Jay dogg
use cygwin in windows.
Check the dsixda page about how to install cygwin based kitchen.
It's Much better than virtual box.

you can use Linux live USB Creator( Lilo) to create a live.USB(keep 1 - 3 GB persistence which is enough for kitchen cooking) Ubuntu in case you don't want to dual boot.

I've read about cygwin, What's the dual boot ? It's not like Virtualbox ? I'm Leary on the installing another OS on my laptop, don't wanna f@ck up my laptop, I hate fixing windows it can be a real pain

Dual boot is installing two operating systems on one pc..
usually people botch the installation of Linux and wipe the entire laptop including the backup/restore partition.
Remember Linux distros use ext4 file systems and windows use ntfs.
I heard Ubuntu can "transfer" the space available in windows for Ubuntu to utilize but I have never used it( I have 3 hdds)
it's better to try a live Linux with persistence than install dual boot in case of any doubt.

Kitchen with cygwin works fine if you want normal stuff.( limited to kitchen only)

That's the Leary feeling I'm talking about lol, So cygwin will work via windows alone ? Because i've got cygwin installed it just opens up into a terminal & says bash 415 or something like that

Yes
install the cygwin bundled with the kitchen to avoid dependencies error
then open the bash terminal
navigate to the kitchen folder
type

./menu

and. The kitchen will open up in the bash window/terminal itself.

Yes my OS is windows 7, I'm more familiar with windows, & have installed cygwin so I just navigate to the kitchen folder & put the menu code in ?

yep you open the cygwin terminal and then navigate to the kitchen folder and run the command ./menu :D

Sweet thanks I'll give it a try, thanks for the help to all of you.:D Does the kitchen folder need to be in a specific place ?
