Root DSPManager ROCKS! (audio upgrade)

Contempt: Can you post the updated apk for those of us running something other than the Virtuous ROM?

I would really like to run version 15 on my rooted stock rom...

I'm running it on rooted, stock sense 2.2 with no issues, other than the clipping at 100% volume. But that is normal once you mess around with ANY eq since what eq essentially does is raise the gain for selected frequencies. 3dB+ is a BIG signal difference in audio, most people don't realize that.

A 3 db increase takes double the power. So yes, a 3db increase is pretty big.

Just downloaded this. What's the best way to set this puppy up? IE, is compression good for bad? What does the effect strength stuff do?

You can get it using ROM manager. Just select Download ROM/Virtuous/Extra Goodies/DSP Audio Manager.

You don't have to be running Virtuous. I guess you could do a backup if you're nervous =)

Cool!! Worked like a champ. Hope he continues to offer the updates as extras that other Rom users can access.

compression is bad IMO. it may come in handy if your in a noisy environment, but other than that, leave it off. the effect strength is the effect strength on the compression, the higher the strength the more it'll be compressed.

the EQ should be adjusted however you want it. try to do as little as possible though. to much in either direction can be bad, but cutting is less harmful than boosting.

the room effects are room effects. its meant to simulate being in a room. studio being the smallest room and stage being big and open. i like "room" the best.

HTC Inc + DSP Manager (room effect, - some bass) + Brainwavz M2 IEM's = heaven :):):)

Just received a pair of M2's. Very pleased, very very pleased.

new setting with these new IEM's:

Great find guys...... Can I ask a few quick questions? just so i can rest easy.

I did it via Rom Manager. It told me "i need to install ClockWork recovery". so I clicked OK and it installed something. But i already had Clockwork Recovery when i rooted. Did it install something different? or did it just install the same thing over mine?

also does this work automatically? Play music and it's going to be this good way every time? or do i have to start the app first.

sorry and thanks in advance. But i love this so far. Much better quality. Even out of the phone speaker it's ten time better.

it just updated your clockwork recovery. no big deal.

you have to open the app and check the box to apply the EQ. the default is to NOT have it applied. then after you apply it, you can change all your frquencies and whatnot, and no you don't need to keep the app running or anything.

hey guys, if I already have a version of DSP, is updating as easy as installing a new .apk or do I need the new .so file to go with the .apk?

I have an IncDoes ROM and a Uncommon Sense ROM, both came with DSP however the DSP with the uncommon sense ROM sucks pretty bad. it looks different, (From the two screen shots posted in this thread) and it gets all staticy when you try to adjust anything.

The DSP with my IncDoes ROM looks mostly like the screenshots in this thread, and it works great. so can I copy the .apk file from my IncDoes ROM and install it in my UncommonSense ROM or will there be more to it than that?

Also, the DSP from ROM Manager under virtuous, which version is that? the one in my IncDoes ROM says Versino 1.0. I don't know which version my UncommonSense ROM is running.
Thanks!

The version for Virtuous is version 15. Although I don't run Virtuous, it runs fine on rooted stock Android 2.2. Had to download the zip via rom manager and install under clockwork recovery but was not a big deal. Like it much better than V14.

V15?! Dang I'm running v1. Why couldn't you flash it through rom manager using the install rom from sd card option?

Any difference between the version I have (from original post) and the newer ones? Seems more aesthetic changes rather than real audio changes, since the dev tapped the core function of the DSP (hard to expand on that).

I love this upgrade (as I already posted). But I'm not good with setting this thing. I copied a few you guys posted for the phone and headset but was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for blue tooth? i have it enables but i have the equalizer bar settings flat. Is that good enough for blue tooth?

My bluetooth headset has no bass so I have to increase those bands that produce it. It all kind of depends on the headset.

Hmm, I've already installed it but thought I may have done something wrong, and checked in the location described above. I have an option for Google 3D Gallery for 3.x, Evo MMS and Evo Camera...

In any case, I installed it via Clockwork and have an application named DSP Manager... now, what do I do with it? It looks nothing like the screenshot above! Just has Select Configuration to Edit: Headset or Phone Speaker

What am I doing wrong?! And/or...how do I use it?!
