Root Dual boot Nook sounds too good to be true...

Has anyone used the stock rom in a B&N store? I tried it yesterday and it couldn't see the WiFi, said there was not a B&N within range. My wife's stock Nook Touch was connected though, so I know their WiFi was active and working.

MH, I know it's been a while since you posted this, but tonight after work was the first time since that I've been in the B&N store. Because I remembered this post, I booted into my alternate boot (the stock ROM) before I went in and lo and behold, I was greeted at the door with a welcome to B&N store screen on my NC. Needless to say, wifi in the store hooked up immediately for me (and stayed connected until I left).
 
thanks you two. I was in a BN store and asked the resident genius there about it. He said they do that sometimes, and the trick to fix it is to select the ATT network in the store. That's the primary network in the store. Once on that the NC will automatically switch to the regular 'customer' network (and then you can get your free cookie :) )
 
Geez, the work you guys go thru for a free cookie. :D

If I'm that desperate, I'll swing by the Ford dealership, grab a handful of cookies and my NC can stay at home.
 
Just rooted. Dual boot. CM7, android 2.3. Prefer the nook reader app for android to the stock nook reader. More responsive, animated page turns. Extensive library synched with no issues. Overall performance beats crap out of stock nook. Not all apps available in market, but Netflix apk out there and easy enough to find and download. Works great. Same with amazon application store. Nice to have all your favorite apps and not the joke apps in nook application store. Do it? Root.
 
I'm use the triple boot and it is working fine.
I have it on a 4GB, 8GB and 16GB card and they all run fine.
I have typed out step by step instructions with screen dumps / links to needed software and images and how to recapture any lost storage space on microSD card.

I installed the SD card from droidpirate and now when I boot All of my apps stop unexpectedly.
Error: Aplication browser (process com android. browser has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Worked the first day and now in the Andorid artic.

HELP!
 
Ed, going to need a lot more info.... :D

What do you mean by "boot"? Are you saying you get this error at startup or reboot?

When you experience FC's, fixing permissions in Rom Manager may help.

It worked until you rebooted? What did you do between that time?

I originally bought an SD card that was already set up for me. I had problems similar to what you described. Based on the advice I got in a different Android forum thread, I bought a SanDisk card and installed the OS onto it myself. The difference was incredible. The person I bought the card from had not used a Sandisk card, and that seemed to make a major difference.

New to all of this! :-) Just purchased a NC from another tech forum that already includes CM7 on an external card. Will not have the NC until mid next week, however I guess he has it set up for dual boot from the stock NC OS or CM7 on the external card. Looking forward to comparing both:p

Have been reading these forums now for about 3 days, and I must say I have learned a ton from all the awesome members here!:D


Really, really looking forward to receiving the NC!!!
 
I was waiting for moderator to assure my post getting some attention or your trandferring it. CM 7 for improving functionality over nook tablet, but one does occasionally have to go back and in my case clicking on nook does bring me to books ot shop but no real navigation.
So short of removing 8GB N2A card is there some other route. Thank you all for being here

It's actually quite easy, but if you try and run Honeycomb, it can be a bit sluggish. Still, if you stick with a reasonable setup, and use CM7 or Phiremod, you should have a good experience, that is IF the wife ever stops reading long enough to let you have it ;)
