Help Dual Core

My service provider is only selling this phone with the dual core processor, how does this stack up to the quad core??

I've also heard some problems with this phone are constant overheating and a draining battery life. Are these problems only apparent using the quad core?? If I do pick up the dual core, will I have better luck with overheating??

Im new to smartphones and androids, any advice would be great.

I'm sure speed wouldn't be that much of a difference between the dual-core and the quad-core. I mean, quad-core, seriously, what are you really gonna do with all that cores LOL right? It's still a One-X, after-all. Not sure about battery life, but with my quad-core One X, I've been experiencing pretty good battery life actually. The phone lasts at least 12 hours with moderate usage (no gaming, but facebook, whatsapp, text, phone calls, music...). Prehaps it will be better with the dual-core version, but really I'm not sure.

from what ive been hearing the tegra version has better standby battery, the duel core has better in use battery (not that much difference though) the duel core is actueally better in some aspects than the tegra performance wise but you miss out on the tegra zone exclusive and optimised games.

both have plus and minus points but at the end of the day both are great phones. and the best android offering at the moment.

Galaxy S 3 might just nab that title depending on preference once launched but it looks like its going to be close.

Basically what i'm saying is don't be afraid to get this just because you can only get the dual core variation. Its an awesome phone no matter what processor you get

Thanks for the info everyone, very helpful!

Offtopic- Something that still worries me though is the non-removable battery. I know its probably hard to say, but do you think it will last a full 3 yr contract?? This is one of the only things holding me back...

Don't worry about the dual core S4 Vs the international Tegra 3 - it's much better (for a variety of reasons - better DAC, GLONASS, 28nm CPU design - superior for any tasks that don't take advantage of 4 cores which is most purposes in the phone and also more battery conserving). To be honest I wish my international One X had the S4 onboard.

I dont have this phone yet but thinking about getting it, that said my past phones from different companies had no problem with the batteries lasting 3yrs with proper charging...my only concern is when you want to upgrade later and want to sell this phone on ebay people tend to ask how old the battery is...with no way to change it yourself you may be stuck with it forever.
