Help Dual Notifications!!

I have searched up and down every forum for a solution to no avail. My issue: I have chomp sms, it is set as the default sms. When I get a text, I get 2 notification icons. I dont get the message twice, just two icons (the chomp colored one and an envelope one from the default) in the status bar. I have uninstalled chomp, i have unchecked notifications in the default messaging and it still doesnt work, i tried clearing defaults in chomp as a fix....nothing is working. I hate seeing that little envelope every time i get a text and nothing works at all. Who has solved this problem and please dont tell me default messaging > settings > uncheck notifications. it dont work. the check is dimmed out and definitely off.

Try going back into the default messaging app and double checking that after a reboot, the uncheck notifications box is still unchecked. I had a problem where i would Immediately check the new one in handcent and uncheck the default one, and when i rebooted, they both were still checked. If this is the case, try unchecking the default one, reboot, check its still unchecked, then check the new messaging one in chomp and reboot.
