Hi guys n gals, I'm due to upgrade my HTC Desire in a month, don't know what I want atm and was hoping for some advice on whats the best to have.

Really like the HTC and don't mind having another but don't know which?

Hi hadron, I really like the useability of the desire, its not rooted or nothing. Mainly used for calls, messaging and surfing, bit of listening to music is about it for me. I was fancying the One X but having read up I dont think its for me, whats the Ascend all about, cant find nowt on CFW or t-mob. Gonna have another search tomoz for it.
 
Damn. That was quick mate. I'm stuck atm, not really fancying sumsung either, misses got the s2 and i just dont get on with it. I'm sure something will turn up.
 
im already out of contract. waiting for a probable july release of the ascend d quad xl. its top spec though so if you dont want a lot from a phone, could be over kill
 
Currently awaiting my contract to end in September's so by this time the Ascend and S3 will be established. Its crunch time then!
The S3 looks very nice but I think the Ascend will have more functionality. I'm not a massive fan of touchwiz either, as it hinders the ics theming, and but a quick root and rom should solve that. I'm still very torn!
 
Ah right thanks hadron, so far I'm favoring the Samsung s3 after reading loads of reviews on both s3 and HTC one. I have a month to mull it over.
 
TBH the MicroSD slot and removable battery make it the S3 a clear winner to me. I like the One X, but those 2 points are huge advantages.

And Sammy releasing the S3 source code a couple of days after the phone is released is very nice too :)
 
Just have to see what the s3 battery.is like.... anoniemouse reckons the x will kick ass in that area due to the core utilisation
 
The reviews say the opposite, but they tend to be rundown tests rather than real world usage - that low-power core will bring the most gain when sitting idle in the pocket, which reviews don't test as much.
 
It will help ROM developers. For anyone not interested in rooting it's irrelevant, but for anyone who is it's a positive thing.
 
But the HTC is prettier!

Bit flippant as I've not had a chance to see the Samsung in the flesh, but for me it is the hardware looks as well as the software. Going to have to live with it for 2 years! Have you seen the cases?

Battery is less of an issue as I've got an external plug in one to support my old desire. Storage now, that is fixed.

It really is down to what you think you use the phone most for. Strange how calls and texts are not really significant any more.
 
You think? I think the look of the One X is quite nice! The S3 is elegant but it lacks ... Something which I can't put my finger on it. Perhaps it is the plastic finish.

To each their own.

I had a play with one today and I was very impressed with the overall feel and I can see myself happily having one. The look of the white one is just a bit too.. Clinical. That's the only way I can describe it. But I also like the minimalism behind the overall design of it. It's not amazingly pretty but looks elegant.

Perhaps one mans minimalism is another's uninspired dullness? :p
 
Nope. I like minimalism. I don't think that's what it is. It's just an ugly shape that's attempting to reinvent the previous ugly shape. It's almost the shape of an old HDd mp3 player Sony used to make. Nw something. 20GB

Well I have just gone to sim only on my 3 contract. There just isn't one phone that I really want at the moment. I am waiting for the Huawei ascend D quad xl to come out. For now my desire with dgb on it is fine.

Hey just noticed you live in Kirton. I went to Huntcliff. Used to live on Gainsthorpe Rd (Blue Circle Cement works / Perrys) if you know it?

Did you go to Huntcliff? What year did you leave?
