Help Dumb Query

Hi,

Pardon my ignorance, but how to copy pics on my x10's phone memory to my pc.

All I can see on "mounting" the usb cable is the sd card content.

Thanks in advance.
 
In the SD card content, find the DCIM folder, open this then open up the 100ANDRO folder

this is where the camera saves the pictures to by default

hope this is what you are looking for
 
While at it.... can you answer the following:

1. Pics are stored by default on Phone memory / SD Card?
2. The DCIM/100ANDRO folder is a link on which memory (Q1 in another words)
3. What about the videos??? where are they saved?:)
 
1- the pictures are stored on your SD card; it's also the SD card that will show up for USB transfer so just look for that folder.
2- see answer #1
3- The videos are stored in the same folder
4- there are no dumb queries, only dumb people.......... :-P just kidding!

but i ask myself this exact same question each time i copy my pictures :p
 
You can create folders within your picture file and media scape will then pick them up as My Albums... so I have Summer 2010, Dad's Birthday, Meg (my dog), Contact pics etc. Otherwise you end up with one enormous folder to scroll thru.

If you haven't always got access to a PC you can use a file manager on the phone to do this too with pics already moved on there or taken by the phone. Astro is good and free from the market. You can use the multi tool and cut and paste them to new folders you have created.

Hi...Got Astro yesterday.

Actually, I am still a symbian user, I gifted my wife the x10 and am now making all efforts to make sure the gadget is able to sustain her interest. :)

However I am still wondering, when we connect the phone to the laptop via usb; its only the sd card memory we can access. How to get to the phone memory?
 
On Astro when you open it the default is to show you the /sdcard, so if you press up it takes you to the phones memory. I would just be wary about doing anything in there in case you mess with something essential!

I also have Linda file manager and that gives a warning when you try to enter My Phone... Alert. If you are not a advanced user or a developer, modify files in this folder maybe dangerous.

So basically just saying have a look by all means but be careful!

Okay another one to prove me dumb:

I have astro on phone but doesnt help when i am connected to pc...dunno if i can link it there...
(The Point of interest here was how to copy sth from phn mem to computer)


Also, I see from the above discussion, that x10 is smart enough to by default save things on card whn they are generic data / multimedia...and saves system files on the phone memory (Apps etc.) Ofcource 2.x allows 3rd party apps to be stored on cards too, but thats another story...
 
I use an App called "Root Explorer" but it's not free. This app will let you browse and modify the files on the phone's memory, but as rosered said, be cautious or you could ruin your phone's OS!

I do not know if Astro can copy/write from the phone's memory, I don't use it, but with Root Explorer I copy paste from the phone's memory into a folder on the SD card, then I can access those files through USB or Bluetooth and modify them on my computer (for example, I updated the hosts file to block bad websites).
