Not sure why, but about 2wks ago my gmail started showing TWO notification icons across the top of my EVO. I'm thinking I have multiple "notifications" check-boxed somewhere... any hints?

I have had this same problem, since day one, running MikG 3.0, and getting duplicate Gmail notifications. What I've had to do is set Gmail to never sync, because the sound annoys me at night... But I want it to sync.

Here are my Gmail settings that I want to be able to use:
Sync inboxes and labels:
Quantity\Amount of mail to sync... 4 days
Labels\Inbox... 4 days
Labels\Priority Inbox... 4 days
Labels\Sent... 4 days

Email notifications: ON

Labels to notify
Inbox... Silent, Never, Notify once for new email
Priority Inbox... Silent, Never, Notify once for new email

When I set my sound/notification options from within the Gmail settings (above), they do apply, but I still seem to have some additional Gmail notification settings that come into play too. For example, I can set all my Gmail notifications to silent, but then I still get an audible notification when I get a new email. If I set a particular sound for a notification, I will get that one in addition to the default notification sound that I just cannot get rid of. I have not been able to figure out where the duplicate Gmail notification is coming from! Attached is a screen shot of what my notification bar shows me when I get a new email message.

If I uninstall the Gmail app, I get no Gmail notifications, so it would seem that there is not a duplicate app that is checking for Gmail messages. I also use Exchange ActiveSync (for work), which is set to notify without sound or vibration. I have worked with a few folks in another thread (here), but we just could not figure it out. This makes no sense, and is driving me nuts -- can anyone help? THANKS!

I wiped and re-flashed today, using MikG 3.11, which I hadn't realized existed before. So far so good. As I did not back up any of my apps this time (just wrote them down and re-downloaded), I think I may have found the culprit (maybe). I think it may have been the "Email Notifier" app. When I wiped and flashed the first time, I restored my apps, but none of the app DATA came over (because I didn't have root when I initially backed them up)... So I'm guessing that Email Notifier was installed with its default settings, and was probably notifying me of new Gmail messages, in addition to my standard Gmail notifications. I have not reinstalled Email Notifier, so I don't know for sure that this is the case, but I assume it is.

Now I am at a newer MikG version and understand my phone a little bit more. Next is to look into "Smurfed Out", and see if it is something that would be worthwhile for me. I have also seen stuff about kernel updates, but I think I will stay away from those.
