Dust in screen issue for Droid 1s?

I just got this Droid1 for a replacement because mine had a key fall off the keyboard.
After I finally installed everything and set all my settings back I discovered the next day dust had started to invade my screen. It's starting at the top left corner.

I brought it to a Verizon store and the tech at the desk told me it's cosmetic and they can't replace it. What the hell. My old droid didn't do this and I've had it for longer than the damn week.
Should I try again and maybe even bring in my Q to show them that this little problem ends up being like the Q and renders the phone useless almost anywhere but a dark room?

Of all the phones I've ever had only one other phone has done this. the MotoQ

Whoa, that Q looks horrible. Heh, that's Motorola engineering for you. Notoriously crappy for years and years.

Anyway, it most certainly is not a cosmetic defect. That tech is an idiot. A cosmetic defect would be one that affects the build of the phone without interfering with user experience. Dust all over the screen interferes with user experience. Are we going to start considering dead pixels on monitors "cosmetic defects" now too? I would go back and give their manager a piece of your mind.

well its not quite all over the screen yet.. but i'm sure it'll get there.
I'll just try a different store another day. Supposed to be blizzard tomorrow :)

When I need to replace or trade up I always call late (1-4 am) and get tech support.. For some reason, those guys are always cool and seem to work with you... May just be a spot of luck but thats how I went from a Devour to Ally a few weeks after it came out...

I just noticed my original round keys Droid has some dust behind it also... I may have to call and see whats available.... Remember, always buy or return items to the site or a corporate store... I have had bad experiences with secondary stores... Just cause it has the sign above the door doesnt mean its a real Big Red store...

Thats interesting. I've never had anything but Motorolas and have never had any issues. i think people just need to learn to take care of their $hit.

The earlier D1's had a somewhat common dust-under-the-screen issue. Had my 1st D1 replaced for it. I've had my 3rd D1 for almost a year and it has had no issues w/ dust. Just call up VZ customer care and don't bother w/ the retail stores.

I treat my electronics like they're the most fragile things in the world and the Droid is the only thing I've really had break on me, where the 3.5mm jack failed for me.
