Root DX force closes when trying to set ringtone (GB .591)

I first noticed this after I installed the new leaked Gtalk (1.3) and tried to set a ringtone for incoming voice/video calls. Force closed then.

Then I tried to set my phone's default call ringtone and that force closed, too.

I'm running GB .591 deodexed (P3droid) with the CRT/270 degree mod.

Anybody know what's causing this?

You may have your problem right there. Try a factory reset/data wipe. If that doesn't work take the Gtalk out and see if that fixes you problem.

Try this: use the Music app (or another app) to set the ringtone to an MP3 file, then you should be able to use the Settings to change it to whatever.

Worked for me.

Are you trying to set your ringtone to something terrible like Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga?
The Droid X does not approve of such actions

My first suggestion right off the bat wouldn't be to do a factory reset. That would be on down the line for me. I would remove Gtalk first and then try it to see if it works. If it does, then you know you've found the problem. Or, install a prior release of Gtalk and see if that fixes it.

True Aggie. I didn't think of it that way. Only reason I opted for him to do it that way was because when I have problems like that the more experienced guys would recommend that to me so I figured hey, couldn't hurt. But definitely take out that app and see what happens.....:D

So how did you make out greenless?
