DX Shipping Without Notification?

This is really interesting. And gives me hope
. I ordered mine on the 27th, and the online tracking crap is giving me nothing. I have NO clue when to expect it. I think im going to call tomorrow and see whats going on with it

I originally order on the 15th, they screwed up and didnt process the order until the 21st. I had been told up to that point that the phone would ship on or before the 23rd, when I heard they screwed up I was pissed and cancelled the order. Later that day (the 23rd) I reordered the phone, I called back a few days ago to confirm that the order was processed and it had been. I was promised the "by 8/3" shipping window. The online status will tell you NOTHING until it has actually shipped, DONT bother. I received two emails yesterday, 1) stating that my order had processed and been shipped, 2) the actual shipping info with tracking. These email were received about 10 minutes apart. I'm in Philly and the phone is shipping from West Chester,PA which I thought was weird. Hope this helps! Good luck to all, its tough being patient.

I live in WNY and also ordered on the 23rd. I got my email notification today with a tracking #: my phone is also shipping from West Chester, PA and the estimated delivery date is listed as August 3rd, by 7:00pm.
Why do you think it's odd that your phone is coming from West Chester?

My initial read of some of the other threads had the phones coming out of Memphis. It was a surprise to see it was shipping from my home state and less than an hour away.

Less than an hour?! Damnnn you're probably gonna see it show up today lucky! I wouldn't worry to much abt the shipping location. I'd bet that Mephis was the only place with stock before and now more places are getting some too. They obvious ship from as close as they can is all.
My husband and I ordered our X's on 7/25 - he ordered over the phone, I ordered online an hour later.
His phone shipped from Memphis yesterday, and my phone shipped from West Chester today. We live in NJ. Pretty random!

It does seem that people in the southern regions are getting pretty lucky with their orders. I recently moved to AL from Washington, DC. I ordered my phone last Saturday, July 24th, from the Verizon website. It said my phone would ship by Aug 4th. A day later, it said Aug 5th. I checked the order status a couple of times on the site, but then decided not to bother, seeing as though I had almost 2 weeks to wait. On Tuesday, I got an email at work from Verizon. I didn't pay much attention at first, until I read "thanks for your order. you order has now been shipped". I almost PASSED OUT!! I received my Droid X on Wednesday, at 2:30pm. Because I knew it was coming next day, I skipped lunch and went home early. I've been a kid in a candy shop since!! My phone shipped from Memphis, TN. Evidentally, your location has a lot to do with when you receive your phone. I wish the best for you!! Hopefully, you'll get one of those "surprise" emails, stating that your phone is on it's way!!

Things that aggravate me: the fact that Fedex can't get a package out of their shipping facility in West Chester even though it was ready to go before 8:00AM EST. It's ridiculous that Fedex can't have a package out the door that was ready to go in the early morning.
Why does Verizon even use Fedex? Are they that much cheaper than USPS or UPS? I know that USPS even delivers on weekends b/c I just got a package from them last Saturday. Ugh.

i orded one for my wife yesterday and i will have it on monday and im on long island
I ordered in store on the 26th and they said that the "ships by Aug 5th" is just a conservative guess as they don't want you flipping out when you don't get it by then but it may come earlier. It sounds like people are getting theirs quite a bit earlier then the quoted 5th date. I just tried calling but they don't have customer service now or something. my order number also doesn't show up on the online order tracker. I just played this game with the iphone 4 but in that situation I was told launch day and 7 days later, still without a tracking number or any idea if and when I would get one, I canceled the order and started researching the droid X!

My brother ordered an X on Saturday the 24th in the local verizon,
Had it in hand via fedex on the 28th!!!!
He lives in Southern Illinois, package came from Memphis.
He said he received NO email confirmation that his X was shipped;
The X, along with accessories just showed up.

Ok so I do have some semi-good news. Apparently Fedex didn't completely fail:
> West Chester, PA - 7:53 AM - 7/30.
> Coatsville, PA (leaving) - 8:35PM - 7/30.
> Newark, NJ (arriving) - 12:04AM - 7/31.
This brings me to my next question.
Does Fedex continue to move packages along on Saturday?!?! FYI, I didn't use any special shipping methods like overnight, next day, etc etc.
