Help DX Wifi and 3G question - help!

I have read that wifi actually uses less battery than 3G. So when I am on wifi, do I need to manually shut off the cell service option? Or when it's on wifi, does it automatically stop receiving 3G signals.

Essentially: do I need to manually shut down 3G if I am on wifi with the purpose of saving battery life.

anyone else? does enabling wifi shut off the 3G? Obviously I do not want them both running at the same time if the goal is to conserve battery/data usage.

Im sure it shuts off. Wifi helps A TON as I posted in a thread eairler.
I guess to MAKE SURE you could turn on airplane mode, that secures all 3G activity...

I'm confused by how many opinions you need of the same feature...

Wifi is on, 3g goes away. You will still see cell tower strength because SMS/Phone calls are not handled via 3g. Wifi simply replaces your 3g as the connection for data activities...

This is pretty standard behavior across phones/providers. No reason to have 3g sucking bandwidth when wifi is in use, espcially because wifi will be faster in most every instance.

Thanks, I am good now. Just needed someone to explain the basics to me.

Didn't know the 3G wasn't for phone calls/text but just data. I assumed 3G was for BOTH.
