E-Bikes

It was nice today but a bit windy. At times the wind was a battle and other times it was a non factor. I see that I logged a 26 mph gust this afternoon. I rode up two batteries today. I saw a couple of walkers and one jogger but no riders on the sidewalk. I saw a white haired and white bearded man riding a small e-bike in a park that I pass in town. Speaking of parks, the doggie park was very busy this afternoon. Lucky dogs! :) It was a lot of fun riding. I drained my first battery, came home and took off my bike bibs and put on my shorts. I relaxed and had a cold beer while I changed clothes and regrouped. I pushed a little harder on my second outing and pretty much got tired. It was a good tired and though I'm a bit sore, it was a great day to be a cyclist. I logged 69 miles of fun today.

I went riding today. It was warm but windy. There were a few riders on the sidewalk South but it was far from busy. I saw a lot of riders in town. Mostly family groups which is always fun to see. I had a roast on the smoker so I only rode up one battery.
I rode 32 miles and hope I can get in a good ride tomorrow. Rain is in the forecast the next six or seven days so it will be hit and miss. I found someone's lost vial of pepper spray on the sidewalk today. I don't anticipate too many bears along my path but I tossed it in my trunk like all the lost junk I find. :)

My second time heading back North I rode by a couple that was parked on the siding I ride on. They were riding a nice looking motorcycle and both on their phones. When I was returning on my last North loop they were still there so I stopped and asked if they needed help. The guy said he had someone coming and thanked me for stopping. I told him I ride the loop every day that I can and have had my butt saved a number of times by some kind soul and would love to do some payback.
He laughed and said he was covered but thanked me again. I hope his help showed up.

No riding today and I doubt I'll get to ride tomorrow. Low forties under cloudy skies with gusting winds from the North pretty much shut me down. I'm looking at Tuesday for my next ride.... I hope.

Seventy one degrees was the original forecast for today. This morning it had be changed to sixty five. I waited until it reached fifty five degrees and went riding. It was humid and there was a slight fog. It seemed incredibly cold to me. I made one loop to the town South and a couple of in town loops and called it a day. I logged sixteen miles. I was not surprised that when I came inside and saw my weather station that instead of continuing to warm up, it peaked at fifty six and fell to forty nine during my short ride. I met one rider on the sidewalk South, oddly enough. I was dressed warmer than he was. I bet he was very happy when he got home.

Ordered a pin kit yesterday, hopefully I can make the repairs with that, instead of buying a $120.00 complete wiring harness, only to cut off the one plug I need.

I took advantage of day one of daylight savings and went riding after dinner. It was rather windy all day but was less offensive late this afternoon. I smoked some ribs and we ate early. I was riding by five and rode a couple of hours. I logged 33 miles and was the lone rider on my loop. I did see some dog walkers but the cyclists either rode earlier or decided not to fight the wind. I found a 15mm end wrench and a ratchet and strap today. It's amazing the junk that ends up along the road.

If you find a 10mm 3/8ths drive socket on a 3/8ths drive ratchet let me know. I misplaced mine awhile back and got no clue where I laid it down at ....

I had aspirations of doing some serious riding today. Though windy, the weather pretty much cooperated with my plans. Today, I started the daunting task of cleaning out a storage unit that my partner and I stored all the tools we seldom used and junk that neither he or I wanted at home. In the process of loading a truck full and then emptying the truck full at the waste transfer station into a commercial dumpster I strained my back. While loading the truck I frogged my thigh muscle. I tried riding once I got home. Between my leg hurting and riding different trying not to hurt it worse, I got my back hurting so much that I was glad to get back home after only 22 miles. I didn't see any other riders today.

I actually got to ride a bit today. I spent morning setting up a job box to keep mow stuff in. Oil, filters, blades, tools, etc all in one lockable spot. Then I went over to my storage unit I'm cleaning out and took another load to the trash transfer station. I took a load of Disney VHS tapes to a mow customer that runs a thrift store. The rest of the incredible collection of tapes were part of my dump load. I then came home and geared up and went riding. It was cooling off as I rode and I only logged 25 miles before I was chilled. It felt great to ride some and I hope to get in some quality miles tomorrow. Sunday and Monday are looking to be lousy riding weather. I met one guy riding on the sidewalk South.

I did some running around this morning but was back to go riding this afternoon. It was in the mid sixties when I took off and was seventy degrees when I put the bike up.
There was very little wind and it was just a great day to be riding. I wasn't the only cyclists that was out enjoying the weather. Between the riders in town and on the sidewalk, I likely saw over a couple of dozen cyclists today. I even saw a couple riding South as I was making the return leg of my loop on the highway siding. I rarely see riders taking advantage of the wide concrete lane beyond the highway. It's supposed to be extremely windy and cool tomorrow and flat cold Monday. I'm glad today was decent for everyone. I logged 37miles.

Finally got back to the Harley project yesterday. Switch is ready to test it has been sunny and nice for almost a week. This morning is 53° and the wind is blowing things around outside like a hurricane !

I need to take some shots of the wiring job, when it warms up a bit, sigh !

All of this is because the 10 year old front brake light switch quit working. That is the spot on the plug that is really dry rotted. The clutch switch on the other handlebar is bad as well, I am gonna learn to live with it !

I haven't been able to ride since Saturday. The weather was simply lousy cycling weather. Between the cold and extreme wind, I had to pass on riding. Today is looking very favorable to get in some bike time. It is supposed to get into the upper seventies with very little wind from the NNE.
