E-mail notification issues

Hello everyone, new to this forum. I got a nexus 4 a couple of days a go, finding my way around it. I was receiving automatic notifications, until the last few hours, now I have to go into my email account and hit refresh. Any ideas?

You don't give any information. So the best advice is to open up whatever app you are using and look at the settings

It was in my email app, my hotmail account. I'd checked the email notification box but it still wasn't showing me when I'd received an email. I deleted the account then added it again, this appears to have sorted it. Thanks for your reply anyway.

I saw a post in the Nexus 7 forum that the master sync somehow got turned off during the upgrade to 4.2.2. In that case it stopped Exchange mail synching, but it would presumably affect other mail as well.
