Help e-Mail question - Mark as read

I get an awful lot of e-Mail, who doesn't? LOL

Is there as way to tag multiple items and mark them all read?

Put a check next to all mails you want to mark and select Menu -> Mark as Read...

I must still be missing something. When I look at my list of email, I do not see how to mark the mail. If I tap it, the mail opens. I also do not see a menu item that offers to mark a message read without reading it.

I'm using the Evo and have the same issue. I'd like to be able to mark all the emails in an email account as "read" without having to go through each email. Does anyone have a solution!!!!!?????
