Help earbud/microphone fail after gingerbread update

jfblodi

Lurker
Sorry if this has already been addressed here, but I haven't been able to find it...

After I installed gingerbread (version: 2.3.3, kernal: 2.6.35.7) on my fascinate (I500), neither my earphones (buds) nor the microphone work during in-call conversations, which they did with froyo. I can hear the call ringing through the buds, but when I answer it, both buds and microphone stop working, and I have to unplug the buds, and take the call normally at my ear. Yet, I can listen to music through the buds all day long! Any ideas why????

GB hasnt been released for Fassy. 2.2.2 ED05 is the last official update. So that means you have to be on a rooted device so any problems you are having may be a ROM problem.

Sounds like you created problem by rooting and thats why I wait for updates from VZW. fascinate has had nothing but problems with Froyo and now you want to add more by screwing with GB.

Sandystorm, rooting only corrects problems. He needs to ask in the all things root section. What ROM are you running? To be honest Sandy, if you are only using stock and waiting for official updates, you are missing out on a very powerful device. The fassy is AWESOME once the software utilizes the hardware to its fullest extent.

I didn't root it...I manually installed GB 2.3.3 by following these instructions from Androidtotal.

EC09 has been known to cause a lot of issues. While not truly rooting it, it is close and considered the same if you were to go to vzw with any issues. I would recommend rooting it to CM7 for GB.

CM7 is a GB variant and when couples with the glitch kernel I have had nothing but awesome results. this link here should be a good place for you to start to research the how to do it and all that good stuff. I would post a link to step by step instructions, but I think researching it and determining if you want to try it and getting all the knowledge you can about it first is a better idea. http://androidforums.com/fascinate-all-things-root/378936-cm7-rom-glitch-kernel-wow.html
