Earphone buttons no longer work

A while ago, the buttons on the earphones that came with my phone just stopped working. Now they no longer accept an incoming call, stop music, skip to next track, go back a track etc. They don't seem to have any functionality. I've tried restarting the phone and things to no avail.

I had the exact problem and posted about it here, but got no response.


In the end I went into the store I purchased the phone from and got a replacement headset. The strange thing is, the new headset worked perfectly straight away which made me think the previous ones were faulty (and that it wasn't a software issue or something), but then I was listening to music on a plane (in airplane mode) a few days later and the buttons stopped working on the new headset! Anyway, this only happened the once and I have had no problems since (about 2 weeks now).

So I don't know if there is a known problem with these headsets (or a batch of them), but I couldn't find anyone else with the issue when looking through this and other forums.

So my advice is to get a replacement headset under warranty if you can.
