Help Earphone indicator won't turn off

Hi all,
I have a problem whereby the earphone indicator in my task bar at the top of screen won't turn off, even when the headphone jack is not inserted into the phone. This problem is also impacting on incoming calls, as they are muted for some reason.

I have rebooted the phone several times, but this hasn't helped.

Any ideas anyone?

You could try a factory reset,That should fix it.

If that will not work, get some Alcohol and wet the tip portion to to the top of the part that actually goes into the jack of the EARPHONE PLUG (With the phone off, and the battery removed) and insert and remove the plug on the phone, and kinda jiggle the plug while inserting and removing it. Do it a few times, re-wetting the tip, and after that, use "Canned Air" to blow out the phone jack connection hole. Wait a bout 10 minutes before replacing the battery and powering back on...
