Help Earphone jack doesn't work sometimes when connecting to an external speaker

Sometimes, there is no sound when connecting the earphone jack to external speakers. I'd have to reboot in order for it to work. Does anybody have a fix for this?

I cannot hear music or any sounds from the earphone jack of my Sprint, Samsung Epic 4G phone.

Rebooting my phone did not work either.

My earphones are brand new and came in the box with my Epic 4G. I also tried another pair of earphones that did not work too.

So, it seems like the issue is with the audio jack.

Does anyone know how to activate or fix the audio, 3.5mm earphone jack?

This may sound ridiculous, but make sure the jack is plugged all the way in. The connection is tight, and sometimes it takes more effort than it should, to get the jack seated properly. I had the same issue, until I realized I had to really push the pin jack hard to get it fully plugged in.

No, it actually is not ridiculous because I re-inserted my earphone all the way and it worked perfectly. So, I appreciate your "sound" advice very much. Thank You.
