Root Easiest way to format SD AND ext partition?

Firstly, if I format the SD in the phone, will I lose the ext partition?

If not, how do I then format and check the ext partition?

No you will not lose the ext partition by formatting in the phone.
you can format the ext partition in the root menu on your phone, that is if you have rooted.
Not sure if there is an app that can do it.
