"Easy Root" adding an Unroot button....

I used easy root and my phone is fine. I really just wanted wifi tether, I'm not intersted in loading roms b/c I'm fine with stock. I MAY try an overclock kernel but given the limited battery life I may pass. 99 cents is a trivial amount for the time it saved me...and believe me I coulda rooted myself but I just didn't want too b/c it seems like there isn't a consensus on froyo rooting plus I just wanted to see how skilled these guys were with this app.

LOL. I was sweating bullets. Turns out the SD wasn't seated right. Nearly-epic-fail. Other than that though, it really wasn't that bad. And the end result is well worth is. :)

in fact, it is 100x easier to root via Easy Root. 1 push, 2 minutes, done.

an no, not everyone is having issues with that app and as I wrote elsewhere, as a person who used Easy Root and had some issues (1) there is no proof the issues I was having were due to Easy Root and in fact (2) many people with root issues it seems more come back to issues with clockworkMD and recovery boots and clockworkMD not flashing or staying flashed. That itself, if you read around here, is an issue for many many root people, not just Easy Root people. So, I think that Easy Root might be getting the finger pointed at it when in fact clockworkMD and issues in ROM Manager - another app we all use - might more be the culprit. So in the end, I might have just stayed with Easy Root but issues with clockworkMD caused some of us to assume it was Easy Root and so went down that path.

"And yes. I used my own ROM." - really? you made your own ROM like Chevy or Pete? post it please. I went back and scanned your posts and you asked "Do we need to back up all of our stuff on the Droid first before updating?" - and so you asked that question but have the skills to make your own ROM and not post it up here like Pete and Chevy and several other devs? hmmmm...

not trying to be a jerk, but this does not add up and 2 many people are jumping on the Easy Root hate bandwagon and yet nothing is conclusive about it being an actual problem.

either way.. I think you get my point about using tools and faster methods for rooting. nothing wrong with it if it is made available and there is no valor in doing it the old school slow way.

This is coming from someone who was just sitting around for an hour trying to decided if he should root or not. Using the EASY ROOT. Fail.

Me too. Rooted using Easy Root on 2.2 FRG01B. I have set profiles in Set CPU for overclocking, have wifi tethering, and a screenshot app. That's all I need; no custom ROMs for me.

yep, and also the same guy who did root, both the long and short way so can speak on both, and is now trying to help others when they have problems in rooting, and is now making his own framework-res.apk files - you must know what those are since you made your own as yet to be seen ROM - and is designing his own stat_sys_battery_x.png's and loading them onto his phone all by reverse engineering having never done it before...

pwned.... and you?
