easy tether

I just downloaded easy tether lite for my phone and I'm going through setup, it tells me the file for setup on my PC should be in downloads, its cleary not, any help here?

That's if you downloaded the setup file for your PC from the phone (such as you were in a situation that you couldn't download it from your PC since it didn't have internet).

If that was the case, you would mount the SD card on the phone as a disk drive on your computer, and open the setup file from the "downloads" folder on your phone's SD card.

No. As long as you don't go overboard (5 GB+ a month), they will have no reason to flag your account under high usage. Some people go higher than this and still report Verizon not doing anything. So you are pretty safe.

It took some time, and some understanding, but I am up and running, and my Cat 5 cable is unplugged, and my "Wirelless" is shut off!!!!!!

Now tell me this... what does the paid version get me, that the "lite" "Free" version doesn't?

Https access. In a few days, the lite version will expire and will block access to https sites. Https access is used for logging into email accounts, bank accounts, purchasing things online and so on (basically, anything that uses a secured and encrypted login or website). If you don't have much need to access them from your PC (you could always use the sites on your phone if they were blocked from the PC), you can use it indefinitely for free.

I didn't see... how much do they want for the full app?
 
HOW I DID IT: I downloaded the .exe to my phone. Then mounted as a disk drive to my PC, opened the .exe on my SD card and installed straight to my PC. Run the wizard.

Although, as I understand it, "Rooting" nullifies your warranty. And I don';t know that there are that many adjustments I want the ability to make. Knowing ME, I'd take it to the extreme, and screw up my phone! :D

Go ahead and buy it then. I did back when they were sending unrootable refurbished Eris's. I don't regret it even now with root. Its remarkably stable and quick, and I personally think its better than PDAnet, considering they are about the same featurewise, but PDAnet costs 3x more.

It downloaded a 300 MB or so installer for about 2 hours (I only had a 600 Kb/s 3G connection). Never crashed or caused any problems (though the phone was REALLY warm).

My real interset will be in about a week, when I have a trip out of town. Don't want to spend $ on internet in a hotel. That'll be the real test for me. The ap seems to be real nice. But wanting to check email, sounds like I'll need to spend the few bucks.
 
There is a way to get around the https block. Load the secure page on wifi. Keep it loaded in your browser. Then use easy tether lite and disconnect from the wifi. Try reloading the page with easy tether lite and it should work, did for me!!!
