Easy Tether

yes, I purchased it today and just tested it. It works well. I am not rooted.

I don't need this a lot but when I do need it (once every few weeks), I don't want to pay $20 per month for that. this is your alternate, you only pay $5 one time.
 
Pulled the trigger and got it. Figure if it saves me one charge of $12 for internet at a hotel it's more than paid for itself. I don't plan on rooting the TB so this is a great alternative.

i don't want to know what kind of hotels you stay in that don't offer free wifi.

I don't see why people dont root the bolt, its so easy and with the Revolutionary way i found on youtube you don't even lose your data.

I can root but I rather not. Rooting requires you to keep it up, if you are stock verizon will do the upgrade. For me this is the easy way to get Internet when I need it. I really don't expect to use the 1 or 2 time a month. But it's nice to know I have it at all times.

about 2 years ago i remember paying $10 for a tether app which worked great for a while till verizon stopped it from working. lets hope your app stays alive.
even now its harder to get free tethering, on my bionic even after a root verizon has managed to stop tethering but i found a work around on youtube.

So far Easy Tether working great.
 
What kind of speeds can you expect over ET? Is it faster or slower than the hotspot?

I used it last night just to test on my desktop and the speeds were find for basic browsing. Nothing special but it worked. I'm in an area to with not great 3G coverage (4G is about a mile from my house, FML).
 
i like rooted i just click a button and tethering is on. no wires no having to wait for et to work etc. however easytether is a great app for unrooted i used the free version.
 
On a side note, is there a way to disable the icon in the Notification bar for this app? I can use the App Killer but it's just annoying to have to do it each time.

It's such a big deal I may consider uninstalling this and staying at random Interstate Motor Inns so I can get free internet. /sarcasm
