Root Easy to root now?

So Ive been watching the rooting scene on the TB for a while with the supposed bricks and all. I am so used to the one-click-root option with the eris, is there something similar to with the TB now. I like my TB with LP, yet I want more options ect.

Also, what would you recommend as the best ROMs out there so far?

the manual method is still considered to be the best and safest method, tho others have used other methods with success.

some links and video to setting up adb, rooting manually, unrooting, and "easy root" methods here: http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/322897-thunderbolt-rooting-methods.html

as for roms, its largely a matter of preference... ive liked for froyo roms tesla coil, perfect storm, and das_bamf. youll get alot of votes for bamf, and with good reason-its smooth, stable, and has "unthemed" and "remix" versions.

links to roms on xda on the stickied http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/310708-thunderbolt-rom-list.html at the top of the page :)

I just rooted my TB today using the manual method. I was used to one-click as well, but it really wasn't that bad. Sure, it took me longer because I took my time. It also helped watching this video: YouTube - How to Root the HTC Thunderbolt - Version 2.5. I'm running BAMF 1.7 and am theming as we speak. :)

Alright then, cool. Would it matter that I am not on the latest OTA update(the one with reboots I guess)?

no,it shouldnt. but when the root process is over,i believe the custom ruu is the rooted OTA,so you will be on it then.

Hey guys....I'm new to posting on here but have always been a reader of thi site and always like how everyone responds and help each other out. So with that said, I'm myself seeking a little help...PLEASE!!! I started doing the manaul root for my TB using the youtube video and I followed everything it asked from installing drivers to setting up ADB. After starting the root process, everything was fine up until i got to Step 6 line 3, which read ... /data/local/busybox md5sum /data/local/hbooteng.nb0
I got a Permission Denied. So the next day I tried to start the whole process again and got to as far as STEP 5 line 2 where it read..
/data/local/psneuter. and got FILE NOT FOUND error message. Luckily I didn't brick my phone doing STEP 6 the first time. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AND WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?...PLEASE HELP..need my TB rooted...not the same after coming from the OG Droid running CM7...LOL

on your "permission denied" error... did you forget, possibly,to type "adb shell" ? did your command window indicate that the engineering bootloader was pushed to data/local whe you entered the first line in step 6?

on your file not found error, either something has happend to your path,so that the SDK is no longer in your path,or if youre just pushing files from sdk\tools or \platform tools it sounds like the psneuter file is missing.

hope that helps :)

I did type in the "adb shell" because I was double checking my work before I hit enter, but I'll try again. Thanks for your help.

after using the one click root on the og droid and the droidx having to use adb was nerve racking to say the least. but once i got started and followed both vids on running adb and the guide on xda it went flawlessly for me. take your time and relax. enjoy your rooted thundertbolt!
