Ebay Android Tablet probs & unlock

Hi folks,

I recently brought a 7" Android tablet from Ebay and I'm having trouble connecting to the market place! I have done some research on the net and from what I can tell the problem is because its obviously a chinese "copy". Can anyone confirm if this is potentially the problem?

I have loaded some apk files for apps and they work fine.

This would lead on to my other question of would I be able to unlock it/load custom ROM? Currently it is running 2.1

Any help would be much appriciated.

You're correct in your suspicions that it's a chinese "copy"; my new WonderMedia WM8650 tablet has the same thing.

I'm not sure how to root it yet, I'm still trying to figure it out myself. :P
 
Supposed to have a phone in it. :confused: I need to unlock it so that it well accept the sim card from a Canadian carrier do that I can connect it and use the phone. :p Love the rest of it. :D
 
These phgoto albums and articles don't really help me. Are you trying to say that it is hopeless and Ishould just play games with it?

Basically yes. Do you enjoy playing Mahjong and Xiangqi? Because that's what many Chinese people do with these things. From what I've seen, if Chinese people are serious about tablets, they often have iPads.

The thing is cheap Chinese tech is often not good, e.g. I went through four MP4 PMPs, before I found one that was any good and actually worked properly. They all came from Shenzhen of course, just like the tablets.
 
Nothing wrong with China tablets but you must buy from only US sellers who test and pre mod them before the sale.

Or you need to be an advance Android uses to do it yourself.
