Root Edit: Flash 10.3 for stock rom or Alternative?

Android Enthusiast
I'm really interested in putting adobe flash on my phone (rooted, stock rom, version 2.2.2)...after reading the couple threads on here in the last week and looking at the links, I was hoping someone could walk me thru this or better explain it?

The link here is the only I found regarding how to get flash 10.3 on the OV with stock rom:

how flash player 10.3 work in stock rom[Guide] - xda-developers

TIA!!!

Edit:

Anyone? I'm sorry for being a pain...I'm just really fuzzy on this process. I tried going to market to download Flash and it only offers Flash 11 and it won't download to my phone, says "Not supported..."

Hoping to get Flash on the phone...are there any more detailed steps out there? I googled for an hour last night and am still lost...

***Really what I'm hoping to do is have capability to watch BBC player (with the app), pbs.org, and hulu.com. If there is a way to do that without flash, I'd love to know how... Thanks!!

I was actually going to make a thread for this. I want it for Hulu, but like you, I can only find Flash 11, when Hulu only needs the 10.3.3 or something like that.

You have to use a modified apk from that link because Adobe never made it for our processor and now that they stopped supporting all mobile devices they never will.

All I'm seeing at that link is an attached link for Adobe 11...am I missing something? Here's what I'm looking at:

hey i am using stock rom 20c and stock kernel and flash player 10.3 working fine.

How to:-

step 1: install original flash player 11.0

step 2: copy lib file to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib

step 3: change the permission of all .so file like screenshot

step 4: that's all enjoy.

These lib files is from ported flash player 10.3(http://forum.xda- developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309406)

If you like my work hit thanks.

Also, I really don't understand the item about changing library files...any help there?

Thanks much!

I hate to tell you this but I tried for a week to find a working flash player for my wife's stock Optimus V (she wouldn't let me root it). I tried different versions of 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3. None of them would work and a few would not even install. After a week of failure she finally gave in and let me root and install IHO on her phone. She is now very happy with her new phone and has a working flash player. This is the one I installed for her.

Just download the file and open the .rar file. Then install the apk using your file manager. I don't think it will work will on stock but your welcome to try.

Thanks, I will look at it! It seems the moons may be aligning on a custom ROM flash...if I get the time and the gumption, LOL!

OK, I know you guys are honestly trying to help me and warn me that my attempt may be futile here...and I do appreciate it! But, I want to try to install Flash 10.3 on my stock rom before giving up completely...

So, if you can help with the following questions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

First, the files needed to create this "workaround" are posted by individuals on the web, I assume, and when I download them to install them on my phone, I'm wondering if I should be concerned at all about the safety and health of my phone's system?

Second, I'm really, really lost about these instructions:

step 2: copy lib file to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib

step 3: change the permission of all .so file like screenshot

I know how to download the files onto my sd card and find them there, but once I install the adobe flash player (assuming it even works), what do I need to do to copy the lib file as described and change the permissions? I have androzip but I do not have root explorer...is that necessary?

Again, I'm looking at the instructions in this thread and would be downloading the files he has attached:

how flash player 10.3 work in stock rom[Guide] - xda-developers

I understand if you all think I'm nuts and don't want to bother, but if anyone can walk me thru this process, I'd be very grateful. I need to just give it a try.

But I suppose I should ask this...would attempting to do this install and reconfiguration of Flash in any way hurt my phone if it were not to work?

TIA!!!

Ok, so do you think I should forego attempting this "hack" since I don't quite understand what to do?

I would. I've seen people brick doing less. That's why I go the way of the rom flashing is less dangerous since the developer knows what there doing when modifying the files than messing with system files on your own especially not knowing what your doing. I wont even touch system files myself unless flashing something.

To add to what Ben said... the default launcher is ADW, but you can install Home Switcher from the Market and then install Go Launcher and set it in Home Switcher as your default. I downloaded Go Launcher so you can see. Here's a preview of the default theme (showing status bar, phone dialer, and some status bar tweak settings from within the CyanogenMod settings menu) with Go Launcher installed:

What does Home Switcher do?

I use Go Launcher. I tried ADW many times and just don't like it at all.

Home Switcher allows you to have more than one launcher and switch between them, while also allowing you to set one of the launchers as the default. I don't care too much for ADW myself as I'm a die hard LauncherPro fan. Here's a screenie of Home Switcher.

Wow, thanks for that! I like that look & I love the tulips wallpaper! Where did you find it (or is it your photo?)

Appreciate the help...

Must I install home switcher or can I just use the go launcher app that would be part of my tibu apps backups? Thx

I've always been under the impression that if you have more than 1 launcher, you need a home switcher app of some type so that you can set 1 of them as the default or to be able to switch between the two when you want. I'll play it safe and say that I'm not 100% sure on that though. :p I'm sure that someone who knows for sure will post and let you know.

The tulip wall came from the Zedge app. I do love that wallpaper!

You do not need any app to have more than one launcher. If you need to switch between them I guess you do need this app, you can always go into manage apps through settings and delete the default.

When you hit the home button when you have more than one launcher it will ask you which app to use and give you the option to set a default.
