Edit user dictionary?

Is there a way to edit the user dictionary native to the phone (or handcent's dictionary, if that's what I need to edit)?

Somehow some erroneous words have gotten programed in, like "tje", so handcent no longer auto corrects and spells "the". It's getting a little frustrating at this point.:mad::mad:

Any help is appreciated.

Nope unfortunately you can't edit it at this time... Only thing you can do is clear it out...

Just go to :
Menu>settings>applications>manage applications>touch input>clear data

That clears out all the added words to your dictionary.

Thanks for the heads up antnyp85.

Too bad there isn't a 3rd party app/widget to let us easily edit specific entries in the dictionary. ;)

Maybe pre/post 2.x root access will help out this endeavor. *whistles in acidbath's direction*

on the new htc eris update (2.1) it is easy to edit the user dictionary.
open any message etc and click on the settings button on the keyboard that would take you to where you can change your keyboard type. now at the bottom of the list is an option for the user dictionary built in to the system. it shows you all of the words you've added and allows you to delete them if you wish.

i know this only helps eris users, but it's a start.

Is it just me or does it return to the top of the list every time you delete a word? Makes it unbearable to clean up my large dictionary.

I'd love to know what file the dictionary words reside in so that I could back them up and restore them across ROMs. Anyone have any idea?
