Edwin: Impressive speech-to-speech app

I bought VLingo and it texts or emails like a champ by saying, "text bob message hey man what's up" or "email sally subject starbucks message something something".

This app seems decent but if you want something a bit more polished, check vlingo out.

What would be REALLY cool is any of these programs supported IBM's Watson type of questions where you can basically ask it about anything in the world in any way and it will give you an accurate answer. It beat experts at the game of jeopardy.

Every since the update it will not work. It wants to install a voice installer and when I do, it still comes up with telling me to install a voice installer.

Plan to uninstall.

It does translate into Spanish, Italian and French - perhaps others also. It failed on Mandarin, Japanese, Russian and German.

Ok..this app is really sweet. It has rarely made a mistake in understanding what I say. I think what really sealed it for me...was when I asked it "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego" It replied back to me "She's not here...that's for sure".

LOL..too cool.

I still can't find a practical use for it.

Maybe besides the speech translation.

Also, it doesn't even go to a website or go to google, it searches wolfram for everything.

Hey, anyone have a list of commands that Edwin understands?

The command list is in the help menu. you can say "google tron the movie" for example and it'll use google search. Best thing I find useful is the units conversations like for instance "convert 10 euros to dollar" or "convert 50 yards to feet". Best app I've used so far!!!

Loving the app. True there's not a whole lot of conventional use for it, but it is really really cool and fun.

Need more voices though. And hopefully down the line more answers. Maybe to questions like "Who was the 13th US President" or "When did the Pirates win the World Series" or "Who directed Tron."

But for its early stages, the app is great.
