EG06 - have it?

Stock users, please check Settings > About Phone for the Build Number - if it contains EG06, please post here.

Apparently such a version was either released or tested in July. Nobody heard anything about it. I know this because, well, I'm downloading it. I'm going to investigate and see just what's inside the package. If it's anything useful, I'll report back.

I already know that it is Android 2.2.2, which contains almost no fixes from 2.2.1 (just blocks a root method).

EDIT: It's a TAR! :D Not a very full one, but it has modem.bin and lte_modem.bin. Awesome!

EDIT2: And my Indulge is now a fully working device again. :) I haven't had a usable (hell, any) CDMA modem in months! Doesn't affect me much, as it's not my primary, but it was a good test.

Just curious, what exactly was this suppose to do? And why wasn't it released on the website. Its probably not stable or complete or what other reason would there be for not releasing it?

I don't plan to release the modems (you could get them yourself, but let me state clearly now, you are an IDIOT if you flash the raw TAR), certainly not yet, as if they're no good, there's absolutely no way to revert. As for the system itself, I'll be poking through that. If there's anything worth having, it'll be posted.

okay thanx man 4 every thing you do for us

p.s. could u please make something flashable with those modem ive only gotten 2 bars at my home thank you once again

I got it on Friday. I got MetroPCS to replace my phone because of GPS problems and after the phone was programmed it came up as EG06.

Here's the details -
Firmware version - 2.2.2
Kernel version - 2.6.32.9
Build number - SCH-R910.EG06

Can't tell any differences so far.

No dice here. Have a completely different version.

Firmware: 2.2.1
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: SCH-R910.EE07

Thanks for the info! Given this, I believe EG06 is official. If you plan to root, drop by IRC - 2.2.2 breaks the current method.

That's the stock version and what's expected.

Yep that's good news because I was wondering why didn't metro release it. Looks like its only on the new Indulges. But I'd expect them to release the update on the site just like they did for the optimus m.

Let us know if anyone has any success rooting 2.2.2

I'm on my way to get a new indulge due to my home button issue...ill see what it has on it as soon as I can...ill be getting the esteem tomorrow tho. So this phone may be used for testing :D

Well, yes. But try keeping a tar or nandroid backup of your EG06. It's quite valuable at the moment.

The EG06 is for the R910 only, as far as I know. Sorry the258
TattoedDroid, you can do a nandbackup in CWM. As for a tar, the only thing I can possibly say is "see k0nane" :(...

Hmm, really? I thought the new 2.2.2-based firmware was not rootable using the previous exploit.
What does your phone say under kernel version?

Kernel doesn't matter.

It's generally thought not to be rootable by that method, but if it is, all the better. Saves me some time. ;)
