With the Thunderbolt, we could get into the EPST settings and change the 3G network type to evdo from eHRPD. This accomplished a few things...
1) [Negative] Made the 3G/4G handoff slower
2) [Positive] It put it back on the same level as all the 3G-only phones, i.e. a reliable 3G connection even when the LTE/4G network was down or hiccuping.
3) [Positive] Once again, it made the phone reliable again, at least on 3G only...
I've tried a few apps like LTE Switch and Network to get into the settings, but it doesn't seem to go "deep" enough like the EPST settings on the Bolt.
If there was a way to change this on the Bionic, that would at least help tide us over until one of two things happens... 1) the LTE network matures to a decent level of reliability, or 2) a magical OTA solves the problems completely...
