Forgive me if it's been covered, but I couldn't find this exact problem. Has happened across multiple ROM's, including ICS and JB. The funny thing is, it's only with my parent's two cell numbers. Doesn't seem to matter if it's incoming or outgoing. If I'm calling them, it usually starts on the second ring. It's not constant, but it's loud and they even say they can hear some cracking and can't hear me. I've talked to one of them and it happens, then to my wife on her phone, which will work fine, then to them and it messes up again. I haven't flashed a custom radio, just whatever comes with the ROM. Right now I'm running AOKP M6. Didn't change kernel or anything. It doesn't happen every time, but I would say probably 90%.
For what it's worth, they are both Verizon numbers, but came from Alltel. They were both using pretty old flip phones, and both the same model. I gave my mom my old K1M KRZR and it's still doing it, maybe even worse. It also doesn't seem to matter if they're at home or out, or if I'm at home or out. So it doesn't seem to be the phones they're using, or their location, or my location.
Any advice?
