Elevation info in Google Maps?

No it does not.
I use GPS Test by Chartcross Limited and GPS Status and Toolbox by EclipSim, for altitude info.
Both are in the market

I use Just GPS for basic GPS data. lat, long, speed, accuracy, it also has elevation.

remember that with GPS signal that is calculated elevation and can be off by as much as twice th accuracy figure. IE GPS accuracy can be 9 feet. the altitude can be off by as much as 18 feet. (and in some cases, more like 30)

again, mostly accurate, but not required to be accurate.

side note I would love to have topographic view in google maps with known elevations. just to have the information.

Sorry Wally World, I meant the compass app that comes with the DX. But then I remembered that I may have downloaded the compass app. I'll just blame the blizzard in New York last night for my spaciness. I think you can tell your elevation but adding a note if you select it in the settings.

Google Maps has terrain view which will show elevations. All you have to do is open maps and click on layers > Terrain. I'm not sure this is what you are looking for.

I was looking for a altimeter type readout. I guess I will have to use an app.
