Help Eliminating unread email notification

Currently have 2 email accounts setup and I've turned off the notification on each account, as well as the General settings. But the unread message count still persists.

I would like to know how to eliminate the unread message count on the email icon and just have it appear as is.

Settings, uncheck "sync email"....manually sync when you want to see your email....
