Just recently got my first smart phone, the T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959v) and have it rooted with a custom kernel and a custom ROM (Valhalla Final). This means it is still running Gingerbread.
So far so good. Just have to get used to a touch screen instead of real buttons.

Welcome to AF, oldcapri! Glad to have you aboard!

It looks to me like you have things well in hand there with your phone. :D

Now, I am not sure, but it looks to me like this is the forum we have for your phone. http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s-4g-all-things-root/

Check it out and see if i am right. :) It looks like things are hopping over there.

Thank you for joining! Let one of us know if we can be of help.

Yeah, I got some instructions via the XDA developers pages. That isn't to say I didn't soft brick my phone once. Then I had the TwLauncher problem so bad I had to redo the phone yet again. Phun!

Kinda wondering what to do with it now! It works just fine. Got it paired with the head unit in my car yesterday. Now I have to receive a call to see if the radio or the old Motorola I had/have was at fault. I could receive/send calls but there was no sound over the radio. Makes for a useless "hands free" unit.

It is kind of addictive messing with the phone, isn't it?

I have settled down quite a bit in flashing roms on my Evo, but the beauty of having a nandroid backup to fall back upon in case I messed something up can not be stressed too much. :) You have made one, right?

Like Ocn is always saying, make a backup, flash a new rom, if you don't like it, restore the backup. (Or him, more likely he'll flash another rom, lol)

Just make sure I am flashing roms for MY phone... :)

Have you looked over here yet? http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s-4g-all-things-root/

Haven't made backup of current ROM yet. I made one the other day before the phone went nuts with the TouchWiz Launcher bug.
I looked at the link. Not too much going on over there. Of course, the phone is a couple of years old now. It's "old hat." :D
