Help Email Attachements

zemmer

Lurker
I am hoping that someone can help me with an issue I have. When I go into my email and compose an email, I then press the paper clip to add an attachement......it doesn't give me any option to grab files from my google drive??
Is there an app I need, or do you have to change something in settings

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have already tried adding different task managers but that didn`t work.

I am using a samsung galaxy note 2

You need to install the Google Drive app and use it to send the intended file or a link to it via email. It cannot be done from within the email app.

However, if you use Dropbox for cloud storage you *can* use the email app to attach files stashed in your Dropbox.

It's always a good idea to install a file manager capable of dealing with cloud storage. FX File Explorer is my favorite but there are others such as Astro, ES Strongs, etc.

Hi zemmer ... :)

Welcome to AF.
I've moved your thread to its support forum. Here's where you can find some useful tips and helpful information.

I hope you'll find this place insightful & community friendly.

Thanks for that, I have since installed Dropbox and loaded some files on it, but when I compose a new email and I press the Attachements button...it only gives me the following options:
My Files, Images, Video etc... There is no Dropbox there, and if I go into "My Files" there is no folder for Dropbox......I also have ES File Manager installed.

Where would I find Dropbox??

Works for me on a Nexus 4 with the stock email app and a HTC Amaze with Enhanced Email. Not sure what your problem is, check your settings.

Of course once the file is selected it must download from Dropbox for attachment. If you don't want to download the file you can share a link to it via email by the share function, which works with either Dropbox or Google Drive.

Thank you for your help, I wan't able to do what I wanted, but I have found a way around it. just a couple of extra steps.

The stock Email app for the Note 2 will only bring up stock apps in attachment mode. You will have to use either the GMail app, or K-9, or other 3rd party mail apps. You will also need to download X-plore app.

Using Gmail...
Gives the option to attach only pics & videos, but you can still attach files if you have 3rd party file managers installed, such as X-plore and ES File Explorer.
Attach a pic, select X-plore app, navigate to the file within your Google Drive account, select the file, then press OK.
Using K-9...
Similar steps as above. Only difference is that you will be given the option to select a file.
Also, be sure to minimize your keyboard prior to going through the steps of attaching your files. If not, you will not be able to see the X-plore app, because it will be at the very bottom of the list, and your keyboard will be covering it up.
