Help Email fetch not working

Squirrel

Newbie
I have my email set to fetch every 15 minutes and the phone is not fetching any emails until I manually refresh and they all come pouring in. I have been in my house all day and get a strong 3G signal. I have wifi off today (probably should have it on, but that is irrelevant).

Hopefully someone has an idea what is wrong??

Many people are using the K9 email app and have good success with that. Problem seems to be in the oem mail program.

Try this:
Go to menu/settings/accounts. Tap on your gmail account. Make sure that all three boxes are checked.

My gmail works fine its my other accounts-yahoo. Reinstalling account, rebooting, clearing phones cache only help for 1 or 2 syncs then nada

I should have mentioned this isn't my gmail account (I have never used my gmail account other than when setting up the phone). It is a POP account.

I may try the k9 as I have heard good things about that in the past.

Thanks

After speaking with verizon tech support, they claim that they have had problems with a few POP servers and that comcast (my email) is one of them. Still cannot get any email, via push or fetch, without manually refreshing. They want me to delete the account from my phone and create it again. I will try this, but am a bit worried that the problem will come back (if this even fixes it). Next would be an app like k9, but I just feel like the stock app should work. Frustrating because I love the phone otherwise and even though I am still within my 30 day return time, I don't see myself returning it.

My Eris never had this problem with my comcast account...

I'm using K-9 and I have the same problem!

That's not very comforting.

After deleting my account and reinstalling it, my comcast emails are once again coming into the phone. Even the tech person I dealt with has the same problem with her time Warner pop email on her X.

I am guessing this is a problem between the android system and certain POP accounts, but I am not technically savvy enough to really understand all of it. Crossing my fingers that this won't happen again, but my 30 days is up soon and I am worried I am going to be dealing with this for the next 1-2 years.

My POP email is with Cox, and this happens periodically. Sometimes rebooting the phone corrects it, sometimes it doesn't. It's almost always back to normal the next day (I turn my phone off at night).
Wish I had a solution also.

Squirrel, I kept trying different fetching times until I found one that did work. After i was sure it was going to stay I went bqck and set fetch to the time I wanted and it seems to be working.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind. Mine is working for the time being after deleting my account and adding it again.

A Motorola tech said they are working on this problem and a fix will be released. No time frame was given, or more details.

I've deleted and re-added accounts (both pop and exchange) and the problem comes back - not immediately, but after a couple of weeks it happened again. Now I'm having to go into the account and refresh to get mail. Something is not right on Verizon's end

I don't know, my last non-motorola android phone didn't have this problem. I think motorola may be the problem here and I am hopeful of Wally World's comment above that they are working on a fix. Either way, not good for someone who relies on their phone for emails.

I have this problem with my Gmail, but not Yahoo. Yahoo works almost instantly, but with Gmail, I have to manually refresh.

Can I delete the Gmail account and then reinstall it without any problems? I only ask because of the need to have a Gmail account to set up the DX.

IMAP issues in SE Michigan since 1/13. Incredibly spotted data fetch for email clients regardless of the presence of 3G/signal strength. Wondering why no one is replying to your emails? Check your Outbox...

So frustrating!

As much as I hate verizon, it's not a verizon/droid problem. I have an Evo as well as my comcast account on it and am having the same problem. Only two variables here that are constant are K9 and comcast. I'm gonna delete/recreate my comcast account and let you all know if it works.

I am experiencing the same problem with Droid X, using comcast and netsol. It is definitely sporadic. Try this, it worked for me. Change fetch schedule to "manual". Power off.... Power on and change fetch schedule to desired. :)

Thanks for that tip. How long has it been working properly since you did that? It seems to be a sproadic problem.

Thanks for the tip but I had already uninstalled/reinstalled & IT WORKED. Btween that & YOUR tip, it seems that in order for the fetching feature to work correctly, it needs to be reset one way or another.
