Help Email Not Syncing

I found that I had to go log into office360 online then go into mail "options" -> "General" -> "mobile devices" and deleted my old phone account. Prior to that I had deleted the account off of my new phone then I added it back in once I deleted it from office360. It seems to have solved the sync problem.

I have a galaxy s6 with the 5.1.1 update. Had to drop down notifications menu. Click the Edit button next to settings and then select sync to activate auto sync.

I was having the same issue on my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus after upgrading it to Marshmallow. I tried restarting the device, account deletion etc. and that didn't resolve it. Then when I was checking each and every option that could be related I found out that it was because I had my "Power Saving" turned on.

Go to Settings > Battery > Power Saving Mode and you will see that it clearly states there that "Email, Messages and other apps which rely on Sync may not work in this mode".

I disabled it and for sure it started working for me. If your device is not in Power Saving mode then it can be something else otherwise it should be this.

I hope it help

Nice that it worked for all of you guys. Well it didn't for me. LG P700 on Android 403. An option to turn auto sync is just nowere in the menu...

No Joy. When I first got this phone (G S4) it was working fine. All the sync setting are as described by others here. It syncs when it wants and usually the sync icon is spinning away like a car stuck in a ditch in a snow storm. Not moving. It syncs when it is good and ready. It doesn't matter if I have a good 4GLTE signal or am on WiFi, it is always the same. Right now, 9:43 AM, it says last updated 3:27AM today (6 hours is not 15 minutes no matter how you count it.). I have auto sync set to 15 minutes 24/7 including roaming. Even when I manually sync, nothing happens, I'm still stuck in that ditch. It is getting quite annoying. When I use Chrome and go to Outlook.com, I see there are new emails there but they do not appear in the app until some unspecified time that I have no control over. I've restarted the phone with no help too. Just spinning, spinning, spinning. I've tried unsetting and resetting and still no new emails that I know are there. Maybe it is related but I have another account that is now dead. I have that set to not sync. I just want to keep the old emails from that account or I would remove it. Getting ready to abandon the Android default app in favor of one that actually works.
- Update - I turned off the "Power saving mode" and it appears to be working better. I'm not sure it is following the schedule however.

Thank you! This helped me and I was so frustrated!

I have a Samsung Galaxy s6 edge plus on att that just updated to 6.0.1 and my sync wasn't working while on "power saving" mode. So now I have to leave my phone off of power saving mode so it can function like it used to while on power saving mode. I'm worried that now I'll have to sacrifice the phone's battery time in order to get my emails... anyone have any tips for this? Is the new OS supposed to manage the battery well enough I don't need power saving mode?

Power Saving mode was also the culprit for me, so thanks! :)
I also found I had to restart by handset to have the changes picked up.

I have a Galaxy S6 (regular).

Hello,

I have an HTC ONE M9. I am using the original Mail app. Software of the phone is the developer edition one. App was working properly until 2 weeks ago. No power saving mode, no changes made. Just stopped syncing when the app is not phisically opened by me. Usually, no matter if the phone is been used or no, whenever I receive an email, my phone goes off straight away immediately. Now, the only way for me to know that I have new email, is to unlock the phone, go the mail app, then it says updating and suddenly it shows me like 14/15 new emails. This is very irritating. Any suggestions?

Best Regards

p.s. here are some pictures from my issue

Not for me though. Issue continues and I'm not using power save mode.... No odea why that started... If someone can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks

I cannot find "menu" in the "data usage". It shows only internet usage of all apps. Can anyone help me please? (Android Rev. 4.0.3) Thanks.
Same here that i can not find the Auto Sync menu option when I go to Settings > Data Usage > More The only options available are 'Show Wi-Fi usage and 'Restrict Networks'. There are no '3 dots' showing to choose any other options. I am running Software version 6.0.1 Any assistance would be appreciated noting that email sync was working perfectly until the last Android update recently.

I updated to firmware 4.1.1 and ever since then I've been having problems with my email.

Just randomly, my email will stop automatically syncing. This includes my 2 Microsoft Exchange accounts and my Gmail account as well. I can manually sync it but it doesn't get pushed to my phone unless I manually select the sync icon.

I've gone through the options such as "sync frequency" and both accounts are set to "automatic (push)" and email is also setup to syncronize.

I've wiped my phone 3 times and finally gave up and installed original supported firmware which is not cracked and it's still randomly giving me this problem after 1-2 weeks.

Whats causing this problem?
Go to Settings.. Mobile networks.. Access Point Names.. More.. Reset to default

This has been an issu for me since the last firmware update. This issue for me was in my power saving settings.

>>Setting > Power Saving Mode > Restrict all background data.
That option got turned on with the upgrade meaning it restricts all data unless you open the app.

Changed it and now everything's working again.

Hey guys, I ran into the same problem as well. Power Saving was already off, auto-sync already enabled, tried variations of pulling data, etc. For those of us syncing with Office365 via a work account, oof the posts here mentioned going into that portal. I visited IT, they knew what page I was referring to, and subsequently they found *two* phones listed. One of them was my old S4 I recently traded in.

To be doubly safe, we deleted both phones from the site, then deleted the account from my phone and reloaded it. Something happened this time that I don't recall seeing previously: after establishing a successful handshake with the email server, a notification occurred on the S7. The IT person clicked it and then affirmed some security question relating the account to the phone. So far so good, and will report back here if it goes south on me again.

"To fix this go to: the global Sync setting is in Settings --> Data Usage --> Menu --> Auto Sync Data"

I was hopeful that some of these solutions might work for me, however, I do not have a Menu under "data usage" when I hit the 3 dots . . . I have
  • Restrict background data
  • show Wi-FI usage
  • Mobile hotspots
  • Mobile networks
  • Show units
  • Help
My contacts and my tasks are syncing but not my emails. I have explored all options, yet, nothing is working :( I am going to try to delete the account and reinstall

UPDATE: after much frustration, I was finally able to delete and reinstall. The system i connect with [for work] updated to 365 so there must have been a hiccup.

in response to my own reply (above), deleting the device and re-establishing the connection didn't work. I'll be downloading either Nine or Outlook for Android, next. I can't decide if this is an Android 6.01 problem for Office365 problem. I was recently forced to changed both for unrelated reasons...

I though turning off the mobile data limit had fixed the problem:

Settings/DataUsage/SetMobkeDataLimit

...but not so.

Still unsure why it's being a pain.
