Email Notifcation Sound

Ok

So I have my text sound different than my email sound

but, what I noticed with this phone which is really unfortunate is that, if you have NO emails, it will play the email notification sound, but if you already have mail, and the mail symbol is displayed on the screen, any future messages won't play the sound unless they are deleted.

If anyone knows a way around this, I would love you long time.

what mail client? I use gmail and open gmail settings and in notifications uncheck notify only once. Sent myself 5 emails from another account and it notified me all 5 times.
