Email Notification Announcement!

Samsung Galaxy S3 version 4.1.1 -- this week my email notification changed from a minor quiet chirp to a verbal announcement which is quite distracting. Is there a setting somewhere that got reset somehow? The calendar also began announcing but I found an "event notification" setting that I turned off. Is there a similar one for email?

Have you tried going into settings and sound to change your notification ring tones? I don't know about emails but I know in calendar you can change it's notification sounds also. Open calendar app and hit your menu key to bring up it's settings. Try that for whatever email application you are using also.

In your email settings, you should be able to select whatever notification sound you want.

Sounds like you have 'Driving mode' selected.
Settings > Language and input > Tex-to-speed output > Driving mode.
