Help Email Notification not always working!?

I am on hotmail email and it is set up on my phone to alert me with a notification when i receive a new email. However it only seems to do this sometimes and other times doesn't alert me at all. Why could this be?

How do I check to see if the fetch is set to every 5 minutes? Where about is this option on the phone?

In the Email app with the account selected, hit the Menu button then "Account Settings" and it's "Email check frequency."

I didnt have the option of "Email check frequency" so i have re-installed hotmail email and i know have it! However i now have a new problem!

When I go into the "sent" and "drafts" on my hotmail email on my phone they are empty! If i click on "load more messges" nothing happens. I know I have lots of sent emails and drafts so why is this showing empty?

Also on the email icon on my home screen it has the number of how many emails I have in total in my inbox on the phone. Is it possible to get it to say no number there at all and just say "1" when i get a new email?
