Help Email OWA help

I'm a complete android newbie (just got phone 2 days ago) and have been trying to connect my school email account with active sync. I've seen several topics about exchange activesync but I just can't figure this out.

With my mom's Samsung Captivate I could connect to my school's email (which is outlook web access), but I could manually choose to set up with an option called Exchange account and it worked fine.To the best of my knowledge the Inspire doesn't have this option, but instead has the Exchange activesync(?) Is there a difference between the two and that's why I can't get this to work, or am I just entering something wrong (since it does work on her phone)?

I've tried just about every combination I can think of in terms of domain, username, server, etc.

Please help! If anyone knows how, step by step instructions would be great

this is the quickest way: Add an e-mail account by using advanced settings - Outlook - Office.com

My account wouldn't do it this way, though, so I set a new "rule" for my outlook account and added myself & my gmail address as a new contact. Works like a charm.
