Help Email (POP; Yahoo) can send, but not receive mail?!?

My native mail app quit working sometime last evening on my Tbolt and I can't get it to receive new mail? I can SEND mail and it works just fine, but it's having a problem RETRIEVING any mail. The native Android mail app is much more robust and customizable than the "Yahoo" app, and it was working fine up until last evening. I have deleted the account, re-created the account.. several times, and still nothing. Can only send, not receive. Anyone have any ideas, or help? Anyone know if Yahoo may have changed something on their end?? :o

I am having the same problems...my girlfriend is having the same issue on her eco....yahoo app is working fine though

Are you doing an auto-create or manual? I'd do the manual method, setting it up as an IMAP account

Incoming Server
Username: Username(do not include @yahoo.com)
Password: Password
IMAP Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Security Type: none
Authentication Type: Plain
Port: 143

Outgoing Server
SMTP Server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 25
Security: None
(Check) Require sign-in
Username: Username (do not include @yahoo.com)
Password: Password

These are the settings I've been using on my phones. See if they work for you... I double checked my settings in both the stock email app, and K9 Mail... They both seem to work on both my Epic and Droid 1...

I am having the same problem. I tried icecolds settings with no luck. I have came up with nothing in searching the web. I really do not want to down load the yahoo app.

I just confirmed this problem with Verizon data support and they said it is a wide spread issue with Yahoo and not just HTC related. Apparently this is causing issues across various Android phones as well as some authentication issues with iPhones.

Support mentioned they are getting hammered with calls about this right now. Had no estimate of when it would be fixed.

This is why I love Phandroid Forums. Thanks to the OP and all the contributors. I have been going crazy trying to figure out what is going on. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Thanks again.

there is no Verizon fix... it's a yahoo move. download the free yahoo mail app from the market. problem solved.

If this is an intentional move by Yahoo it is time for me to get a new email provider. The only reason for them to require us to use a special App by them is because they are collecting data. I realize this may happen with other apps but I see no reason for me to support it.

you're not REQUIRED to use anything. it's an option... just like paying for yahoo premium email, or just not using yahoo period.

not directed at you specifically, but I never understood people who get something free and then feel they have the right to complain about it. unless you're invested in yahoo, you really have no input into their business practices. in other examples, I would say "talk with your wallet- take your business elsewhere". in this case, close your yahoo account and - if you're asked for feedback - tell them why...

Yes, it's working again! So now I can uninstall the Y! Mail app. Just wanted to put a positive post up here to offset all the negative ones... :p
