Help Email Question

Lurker
I've only had my Droid 3 for a few days and I think I've got most of it figured out. What I can't figure out is how to reply to an email without the quoted text. Is there a way to turn it off?

(I hope I'm posting this in the right forum.)

Welcome to Android Forums, dahbee.

Yep, you are posting in the right area. ;)

You can either disallow quoting text in replies, via the preferences menu in the email app, or you can long press the text field and then hit the delete button. ;)

If it's Gmail, those choices aren't there.

Gentle correction: in the GMail app, there is a checkbox below the compose mail box that says "include text" - checked by default - that you can uncheck to reply without quoting.

I can't find that setting in the stock droid 3 email app. Where is that located?

Hi Fascinated,

I'm not finding that email option either. I don't use gmail, I use my old aol account. For some reason, cutting and deleting aren't working for me very well, so what I have found out is I can touch the sender's email address in the email until the menu pops up and choose "send email" which opens up a clean email box.

I'm very very new at this obviously.
