Help Email - receiving w/out refresh

The answer may be obvious so my apologies for what may be a dumb question.

I had the BB Storm for many years, loved how emails would flow into my into box without needing to refresh or update my email folder. My rezound however always needs to have the email inbox refreshed in order to display whatever emails I may have received... surely there is a set up where I can receive my emails on my phone without refreshing... even when the phone is idle and sitting wherever, emails and a notification (sound) go off to alert me to a new email, basically operating in the same fashion as an inbound text message ?

I have my phone set on manual update but here is the process

click on the mail icon > menu > settings > send receive > update schedule

This allows you to set the frequency both for peak and off peak times.

Hope this helps.

I have the opposite problem.
All my email accounts (my own domain (IMAP), hotmail and gmail) all set to MANUAL, yet throughout the day I will get new mail notifications. UGH

Thanks for the advice.

I have three email accounts, all set to 5 min. updates for both peak and off peak times but I still have to go into my mail folder and select the refresh option.

Would selecting the high performance mode make a difference in my power settings ? I'm still not overly knowledgeable about the amenities that come along with each power setting.

Could anyone else shed some light on this topic ? I tried the advice given above but I still won't get email into my inbox/mail folder unless I hit refresh.

Surely there is someway to set up email so that it just flows into my inbox, just like texts do ?!

I personally don't want this so I have not used this setting but I believe that to get instant sync you need to go to the menu>settings>accounts & Sync then set to auto-sync. The mail accounts are listed there along with some others. Then go back to the mail account settings and set it for every 5 minutes. This should get you closer to what you want though it will not be continuous.

I have all mine set on manual to conserve band use. Hope this helps a bit.

Thank you very much for the info.... I think this did the trick !

One more dumb question.... does switching the power options on my phone alter the synch/email settings ?

Thanks for your help... I knew my BB Storm inside and out but feel like a fish out of water with my HTC/Android.

I don't believe the power setting has any effect on the sync. I have experimented with that and did not see any perceivable difference. The power settings generally enhance the processing power, connectivity, etc. You will get slightly better battery life if you keep it on normal as opposed to performance.

Since you are new to this device here is a link you may enjoy that gives some more detail on the phone. Also this forum is great.

I was having this same problem. I turned off "background data" under Sync, and that seemed to take care of it. I don't know why that would be necessary though, if one has it set to MANUAL.
