Help Emails take time to load

I've just got the s2 and have noticed that emails take ages to load. If I'm on wifi, it isn't to bad, but on 3G etc, it's very slow. I used to have a iPhone 3GS and never had this problem. I currently have about 600 emails on my handset, and was wondering if this makes a difference? Thanks
