Help emails very slow if at all

I'm not sure if it's my lack of knowledge, but I find this is the case with my tablet that my emails (gmail and cox) give me maybe two or three at a time, if that, sometimes it's mail I received on my laptop an hour before. sometimes I don't see the mail at all when it's cox.net mail. (gmail always shows up within 24 hrs)

is this the preinstalled app? is there another app I can use? is it a setting?

I hope this is okay - I've already asked the same question in the asus transformer forum as well, because I'm having the same problem, particularly with my cox account which shows as hardly having any mail although I get at least twenty or so a day. btw, my husband has no problems with his Charge and his cox. email so it's not a cox thing. It's something, though.

If anyone replies, I'll respond later or tomorrow. We have to go out for a bit.

Pull and re-insert the battery on your phone and check again. A friend of mine with Motorola Photon had the same problem...stock email app would not update the new emails. I pulled his battery and everything is back to normal.
 
I've tried that but it doesn't make any difference. This is how it's been from the getgo. I'm DLing some mail apps and that might help. So far I have K9 for my cox mail and I'm checking around for the best gmail app. Surely there's some way to get more than two or three pieces at a pop. Thank you. Your time and advice is appreciated.
