Help Emoticons

Afternoon, I have a problem with the Emoticons not working properly. These are sent from my girlfriend's Samsung S4 (Android phone) or an iPhone..........doesn't matter all I get is the old school key strokes. When I send myself one it works fine.

I have cleared the cache and did a force quit.......any other ideas?

What kind of phone have you got? It's the receiving device that interprets the emoticons.

If she used Google keyboard or SwiftKey, would his phone decode the Google emoji?

Thanks for the reply.... I have a Moto X with Sprint as my provider. This problem started after the OS upgrade to KitKat, never had the issue prior.

i moved you to the moto x forum as i think this is more of a device issue rather then a general android issue.

hopefully folks here can help you out better.

i do not have your phone, but are we talking text emoticons, google hangout, or email?
what app are you using?
