couldn't "Thread author" be considered to be anyone contributing to a thread in most cases?

Not really no.
Is the author of a book the person who wrote it or the student studying the book, writing in the margins?
I understand what you're saying, but no..![]()

In alot of other forums sites I visit, the user who starts the thread has an [OP] next to their user name in every other of their subsequent posts in the thread. I feel this makes it easier to see the subsequent progress and/or problems the person who started the thread experiences.
This is the intent of the idea, adding "Thread Author" was to add some description to what just plain "(OP)" means.
Many times I have seen someone else come into a thread and say "me too" or better just continue along and say "I've tried all this and I still can't make it work" and next thing you know you've got two different people asking for help with two different problems.
I like it as is.![]()
