Help Encryption Accident...HELP

sfry

Lurker
:( SO I was playing in my Droid X phone settings, and it gave Encryption as an option. It said select either the phone or the SD Card to Encrypt...I think I checked both??

My phone did an automatic reset (as it does after the encryption apparently...) but now I am missing all my texts, most my media, and almost all my contacts.

SOMEONE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP! I REALLY REALLY NEED TO BE ABLE TO RETRIEVE THAT INFO,. AND I AM TOO SCARED TO CALL INTO VERIZON MAIN LINE, FOR FEAR THAT THEY WILL JUST RESET THE PHONE AND MAKE IT WORSE.

pLEASE HELP ME! sARA

Do you have the option to go back to where you checked and un-check? Unless the encryption procedure erased you data, it should still be on the SD card. There are apps on the Market that can retrieve deleted files, search market.

You might try connecting your phone to a computer and searching the files on the SD card to see if they are still there. If they are there drag them to a folder on the computer until you get the problem solved and then you can move them back later.

It doesn't let me go back in and uncheck it. I was able to look at the SD card contents...but I am still missing lots of files and stuff. Is there a way to unenrypt my phone? Why is this an option in settings if it totally screws everything up...but there is no obvious way to reverse it???
