End of November for 2.2 now?

"Some news on the update to Android 2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S. Currently we are making some changes to get it working better when using Orange signal, and are therefore looking to release the update by the end of November – obviously this is a delay on our original release date but we hope it will be worth the wait!"

yes but samsung want to release to every body at the same time.. if you think about it the update from samsung is now finished and its beern passed to all network..my sgs is unbraned but orange sim and will take any sim card

i think a petition is in order! or mass complaints?

I've had some success with TM complaints before.

I suggest anyone who is on TM and upset about this emails cust.rel@t-mobile.co.uk and specifically asks for their complaint to be passed to "Complaint Investigations".

I'm going to be stressing that I'm not bothered that we don't have Froyo, I'm bothered that we don't have fixes to serious issues like the GPS.

Will see what we can do.

i also have had success with a claim from t-mo so once again i am writing my email as we speak! ill keep you updated if i get any response or success.
Up Date email has gone!

This delay should only affect people with branded phones... ie. If when you boot your phone up you get a tmobile animation instead of the S that materializes out of shards then you will be held up.

If you have an unlocked / branded phone with the S that comes from shards on the boot up then you will get your update straight from Samsung with everybody else as normal.

I am on Orange UK and have an unlocked version and am postive that is the way it will go.

Since it is taking (I have no idea about software) Samsung so long to fix Kies and supply Yogurt  Perhaps we should start the call for our Gingerbread man now

You're right and wrong. This will only affect T-Mobile phones but it's not to do with the branding, it's to do with the operator code.

Put the following code in the dialler *#*#1234#*#*

The CSC will be I9000XXXYYY Where XXX is your operator code. Mine is TMU, which is T-Mobile UK. This is despite there being no operator branding on my splash screen.

I also had a reply from #orangehelpers saying that they had no news of a Froyo release for Orange which doesn't sound very promising.

May be worth badgering the various twitter accounts.

Now that the release is official, i'll be a lot more confident in rooting my phone and getting one of the offical roms on it. **** waiting for them.

Although whichever network is fastest at releasing it will be the one i switch to after my contracts up.

Ah, misread that - presumed it was T-Mobile's twitter.

Mebbe Samsung are trying to convince T-Mobile to allow it...

The problem stems from the joint merger. One was not ready and further testing was (is) required.
Samsung are adamant though, it must get out.
